Objectives
- To prepare the school boys and girls for the three examinations of the Diplôme National du Brevet
- To help them master the examination’s techniques
The Diplôme National du Brevet constitutes the very first important examination in secondary school. For a successful preparation, training alone is not sufficient.
No matter the examination, the student must process the topic within a given amount of time, without help or document other than the question sheet.
The requirements in French:
The examiner verifies, among others –
- Command of the language (spelling, grammar…)
- Re-writing capabilities
- Ability to produce a text utilising different forms of discourse
The requirements in mathematics:
The examiner verifies, among others –
- Proper execution of calculations, graphs, geometric forms
- Comprehension and good reasoning
- Ability to go from a numerical approach to its graphical representation, and vice-versa
The requirements in history and geography:
The examiner verifies, among others –
- Knowledge, historical (dates, facts) and geographical (maps)
- Analysis of documents (texts, images, photographs, tables, graphs)
- Ability to compose a synthetical text
Advice to progress:
An evaluation and recommendation sheet accompanies the attributed grade:
- Strong and weak points are highlighted
- Recommendations relating to knowledge and methodology
